StoryaEdit by Akitsu Consulting Pte. Ltd. is a web-based developmental editor for fiction. These terms set out the agreement between you and Akitsu Consulting Pte. Ltd. ("we", "us") when you use it.

Accepting these terms

By creating an account or using StoryaEdit you agree to these terms and confirm you are at least 16 years old. If you do not agree, or you are under 16, do not use the service. If you use StoryaEdit on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you have the authority to accept these terms for it.

What StoryaEdit does

StoryaEdit reads the chapters and scenes you submit and returns editorial analysis — developmental feedback, line-level notes, and scene-planning analysis. It is a tool that produces suggestions to help you revise your own work. It is not a ghostwriter, and it does not guarantee that your manuscript will be published, accepted, or commercially successful.

Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity that happens under your account. Provide accurate information, and let us know promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

Your content and intellectual property

You retain all rights to the manuscripts and text you submit. You grant Akitsu Consulting Pte. Ltd. a limited, non-exclusive licence to process, transmit, and store your content for the sole purpose of providing the service to you. We claim no ownership of your work and do not use it to train models for our own purposes.

Copyright complaints

StoryaEdit stores manuscripts that users upload. If you believe content on StoryaEdit infringes your copyright, send a notice to our designated copyright agent: Copyright Agent, Akitsu Consulting Pte. Ltd., 60 Trevose Crescent, #03-25, The Trevose, Singapore 298090, paolo@storya.app. Your notice must identify the work you say is infringed, identify the material and where we can find it, give your name, address, telephone number and email, state that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised by the owner, its agent or the law, state under penalty of perjury that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner, and carry your physical or electronic signature. We remove or disable access to material that is the subject of a valid notice, tell the user who uploaded it, and close the accounts of repeat infringers. A user who believes material was removed by mistake can send us a counter-notice with the same details and we will follow the process in 17 U.S.C. 512(g).

AI-generated feedback

StoryaEdit's analysis is generated with the assistance of AI models and is provided as suggestions only. It may be incomplete, mistaken, or simply not to your taste. You decide what to accept and what to ignore, and you remain the author of your manuscript at every step.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• submit content you do not have the rights to use;
• use the service for any unlawful purpose or to infringe anyone else's rights;
• attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse engineer, or gain unauthorised access to the service;
• resell or redistribute access to the service.

Plans, billing, and refunds

StoryaEdit offers a free tier and a paid subscription. Paid subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring basis through our payment processor, Stripe, until you cancel. You can cancel at any time and keep access through the end of the period you have paid for. If you are unhappy, email us and we will refund the last paid month — no argument.

Termination

You can stop using StoryaEdit and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if these terms are breached or if required to protect the service or other users.

No warranty

StoryaEdit is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the feedback it produces will meet your expectations.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Akitsu Consulting Pte. Ltd. will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) StoryaEdit. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Akitsu Consulting Pte. Ltd. is incorporated, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be subject to the courts of that jurisdiction.
